"I do not think it is acceptable ..."

About: Wexham Park Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I do not think it is acceptable to leave a 90 year old on a bed pan, unable to support herself because of problems with her arms, with the bed pan edge digging into a back sore, originally started 11 months earlier at WPH, for 30 minutes. Another patient timed the length of time and told me. My mother confirmed this. She said she had been in agony. None of bell pushs appear to work and other patients would get out of bed to get someone to aid each other.

What could be improved

Patients should be treated like people and not as lumps of meat and bone that need to be processed. Somewhere along the line nurses' training has stopped teaching them about patients being human beings. Computers and clever equipment to aid recovery is a very good thing. A balance needs to be achieved with nurses actually interacting with the patients more. Nursing is no longer a vocation!
