After visiting my GP on the Friday in relation to severe abdominal pain, they advised if pain continues into the afternoon then to go to hospital. At 11pm I went to Urgent care at Hemel Hospital who suspected apendicitis and referred me to AAU at Watford. They called through so they were to expect me however when I got there AAU said they were closed so I had to wait to be re-assessed by A & E. I was waiting for about an hour so by 1am I was seen by a doctor who confirmed what Hemel said and admitted me to a ward. I then was told not to eat or drink as I would have surgery in the morning following a scan. In the morning I waited until 10am to have the scan still not allowed to eat or drink then at about 5pm the doctor arrived to say I wouldn't be having surgery as he wasn't convinced. I was then woken up at 2am to be moved to a different ward as I wasn't a medical patient. The Sunday morning a surgeon came to see me and said I would be having key hole surgery to find out what exactly was causing the pain they suspected either apendicitis or a twisted overy. They had me sign the forms and the anesthetist came by to advise me what was happening a few hours later the doctor came by again telling me again he wasn't convinced and that I wouldn't be having surgery again. At 8pm a nurse came by to advise I would be moving to the surgical admissions lounge as they needed the bed for someone else and that I would be discharged in the morning. In the morning I was seen at around 10am by doctors who diagnosed me with 'undiagnosed abdominal pain' he then advised it could possibly be period pain! To then add insult to injury I had to wait until 2pm to be discharged waiting on paperwork, however at 2pm they said they were still waiting for doctor to finish it and that they would post it to me instead. All in all not a very good experience at all and I still do not know why I am in pain, however I do have to give credit to the nursing staff who were all amazing, they were always there even though they were rushed off their feet and extremely friendly and caring! If only the doctors had similar traits!
