"Routine Gall Bladder Op was a nitemare"

About: King George Hospital

Anything else?

I was admitted into Heather Ward for a routine Gall Bladder operation. The Operation did not go as planned and i needed open surgery to complete the removal of my Gall Bladder. Problems, too many to mention but here are just a few: The communication between the Ward and the Doctor performing the op was terrible to say the least. I was nil by mouth for 2 days longer than i should have been, simple because someone forgot to say that it was ok for me to eat now, even though i remonstrated with the nurses, they just replied " On no Doctor say no. I was not given any antibiotics for one day as someone had completely missed me. When i enquired, i was told that it was not that important to miss one day. Hen i ask the Doctor he said that i had an infection in the scar and that antibiotics were crucial in reducing the infection. After my op, some Mis communication resulted in me waiting nearly 8 hours before going back to the ward. And so on and so on …………absolutely ridiculous.
