"I began my treatment at BGH January ..."

About: Barnet Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I began my treatment at BGH January 2008 started off brilliant but wasn't long before it began to go downhill.

In June I saw a consultant re my treatment, who told me I would need a minor operation, the waiting time for this up to 15 weeks. I received a letter dated 24th July while I was away convalescing (28th July-8th Aug) asking me to call to arrange a date for my admittance. Upon my arrival home on 8th Aug I called straight away, I thought great my ordeal will soon be over. I called the number given only to be told that the person who deals with the bookings is away until Monday 18th August and there was nobody else could help me.

I then receive a letter dated 7th August telling that if I didn't contact them within 2 weeks I would be taken off the waiting list.

Why when the NHS is so busy is there only one person able to arrange dates for admittances?

What could be improved

There are lots of people unemployed. Employ more staff to cope with annual holidays or at least make sure that there is always someone who can cover in absences.
