"Day case at North East Surgery Centre"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was admitted as a day case for a procedure under general anaesthetic.

I was kept well informed by everyone involved in my care.

My only criticism would be for the nurse involved in my post-operative care - the blood pressure monitoring machine wasn't working correctly and giving a low reading, and they faffed on with it for over 15 minutes, when I was desperate for the cup of tea that was waiting for me (I had had nothing to drink for 7 hours and nothing to eat for 15 hours by this point).

They asked another nurse for help and she (quite rightly) pointed out that I was sitting up, pink, breathing normally and talking, therefore unlikely to have such a low BP! Even if my BP had been low, the cup of tea would have helped to bring it back up.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us some feedback. I'll ensure that your comments are passed along to staff at our surgery centre so they can hopefully improve the patient experience for others.
