Went to hospital appt for an opp on my nose. Letter stated g block, was told by receptionist I was listed for f block, but to stay on g as that's where op would be done.
Was lead onto ward by a lovely nurse, mid check the lady a couple of beds away started bleeding and rightly so she went to help, while 3 other nurses chatted on about someone’s baby, so working nurse politely asked 1 to do my obs and tag me. All the time this is happening, she is still chatting.
I just happen to look at my wrist, I have someone else’s name tag on. Now I'm no spring chicken but I don’t look 65. I point this out, raised voices amongst themselves, no apology.
Theatre sister comes to take me in and is not happy I have wrong name. She also clocks what’s happening and tells surgeon. Theatre staff were wonderful, opp could not be completed though, due to complications, go back to ward, they could not even make me my next appt, as no one could decide who I was actually under.
I found the whole experience rather distressing as I have Parkinsons. No one asked me if I needed any help, I don’t think anyone even read my notes.
I could not wait to get out. I hope my appt in the next 3 wks if I get 1 will be a better experience. I will be taking my husband with me.
