"Feedback about the meal options"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Mental Health Services for Older People – Inpatient

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was very nice to have the involvement team come onto the ward to get feedback for Patient Option on 18th Dec. This visit has sparked feedback about the meal options. Silver Birch Ward have had some comments from our patients about the food options. There seems to be lots of meals that contain tomatoes. This narrows down the choice you get dramatically when you don’t like tomatoes. They would like some changes to the main meal with more traditional cooked food dinners with mincemeat, cottage pie, roast chicken and pork chops. They would also like to see lighter options including things like pasties and sausage rolls and not always just sandwiches.

Thank you for raising this issue with us. I am sorry to hear that the food choices are not always what patients want to eat and that more of a variety would be welcomed. I will ask Sharon Howe, Matron, to raise these issues with the catering staff at the hospital and see if things can be changed and the variety improved.

Ward staff from SilverBirch do attend a catering meeting and at these meetings we will continue to feed back any concerns received about meals and menu choices. Support will also be given to these issues by the Matron Sharon Howe. Your feed back is welcomed because we want to ensure that the patients receive high quality nutrionally balanced meals.
