"Service users are not able to access their funds without sec. 17 leave"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Today, we visited service users at The Willows to gather feedback about the services & facilities.

This is the feedback we received:

"Service users are not able to access their funds without sec. 17 leave."

Patients find it really stressful that they have no way to buy gifts for themselves. "

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Thanks for helping to gather comments at the Highbury Listening event.

All comments gathered at the Listening Event are being shared with the senior management team who oversee Highbury services, and I'm sure they or a responsible manager will respond in more detail shortly.

Thank you for your response which shows understanding for the sometimes frustrating situation people on a section find themselves in,as ward manager I would welcome a discussion with you about any new ideas and ways we can safely overcome this situation as I am sure you would agree it is something we already strive hard to achieve
