Last week I unfortunately lost my pregnancy at seven weeks. Today I had an appointment for a scan at the Hemswell Ward in Lincoln County Maternity block to check me over. On arrival I was completely horrified to be placed in a small waiting room crammed full of pregnant ladies with partners eagerly awaiting scans of their babies and all in excited discussions regarding said impending bumps. I was on my own as my husband was away with work and found this rather insensitive given my situation and it was very upsetting. Surely placing a woman who has just lost a baby in a room crammed with pregnant ladies is the most undignified and emotionally disturbing thing that could have been done? There must be a better option or the ability to hold scans where a miscarriage has occurred at a different location, even within the main hospital. I really hope I am never put in that situation again, but maybe I can draw this problem to the attention of someone that can make some changes so other ladies do not experience this.
