Anything else?

8 weeks ago I was referred to the hospital out-patients for cataract assessment, it was cancelled 1 hour before I was due, I was told I would receive a new appointment I have been back to my optitions who told me to see my gp who gave me a number of the appointment division who say I will receive an appointment when there is a place for me to go. How long does it take?

We apologise for the cancellation of your appointment and appreciate the inconvenience caused. The Trust is receiving a very high number of referrals to ophthalmology and this is leading to delays as there currently are constraints on available capacity. The managers of the service are working to ensure that patients are seen in line with the clinical priority allocated upon receipt of the referral (ie routine, soon, urgent) and as you have suffered a cancellation, the appointment will be rescheduled for you at the earliest opportunity as capacity becomes available.
