"Elizabeth Ward"

About: Watford General Hospital

Anything else?

I stayed in Elizabeth ward from the 11th to 14th Decemder and it was great. The most anxiety provoking part was whether the operation would go ahead on the planned date as it was explained to me on a number of occasions that because it has an A&E department the hospital often cancel elective surgery. Although I tried several times to get a clearer picture no one was able to put this into perspective. In the event it went ahead on the day. Staff were lovely and routines for pain relief and other checks were on time and thorough. When I needed help to shower there was a particularly lovely staff member who put me at my ease and I felt I had retained my dignity. When I almost fainted several ties trying to get up staff were very reassuring and kept a check on me. The matron/charge nurse was available to hear one particular concern I had and she ensured other staff were aware so I didn't have to repeat it to everyone. Food was very good and plentiful. The choice was good too. Water was provided and refreshed regularly. The only slight issue was my tv was playing up and staff were too busy to help me sort it out. All in all a great experience and I wouldn't worry about going to this ward again if I had to.
