"Burst appendix -ward 14"

About: Airedale General Hospital

Anything else?

I recently had to visit airdale hospital with severe abdominal painbcs turns out I had a burst appendix I was admitted to ward 14 and had keyhole surgery to remove it. I spent 9 days on the ward as I was very ill afterwards and couldn't eat for a number of days. I was discharged but had to come back after 5 days because I was feeling unwell again turns out I had a collection of poison that came out of my appendix next to my kidney so had an operation to remove it which involved cutting my belly open about 10-15cm to remove anyway the operation went well but was still ill for a number of days afterward but got better and discharged 8 days afterwards and returned to the ward to have my staples removed 2 days later, I was looked at by two different nurses and they both said it would be fine to remove the staples which one of them did a few hours later I was back in A and E my wounds from the op had opened up because they took the staples out too early was quite horrible three weeks later and I'm still getting my wounds re dressed every day and won't be able to go back to work for a number of weeks as I'm a plasterer . Just wish that this doesn't happen to anybody else as its not pleasant at all and they should know when to take the staples out. Other than that the nurses and doctors on the ward were brilliant especially Antony who made me feel at home.
