Two years ago my young son bacame very ill very quickly, with which was later diagnosed as septic illness.
He was taken to our local A&E department at the Western Isles via ambulance which had been sent by NHS24.
His assessment and treatment at the A&E department was quick and thorough, during which the decision was made to transfer my son to a mainland hospital for further care via air ambulance.
His treatment continued at Raigmore using the same drug regime that had begun in Stornoway. He remained very ill for three days but began to recover and we returned home to Stornoway.
He was readmitted to hospital a week later on a Sunday afternoon where the on call doctor stayed until very late at night on the ward just to keep an eye on him.
Two years later my son is as fit as fiddle and I have no doubt that that is as a result of the exceptional care provided by the emergency team in Stornoway and in particular the senior Nursing Staff of the A&E department.
Very many people were involved in my sons care and I would like to thank them all for their expertise and kindness
"My son is now as fit as fiddle and I have no doubt that that is as a result of the exceptional care"
