Felt forced to discharge myself.

Won't bother going into the full details of my story again as every time I do it seems to delete when I try to post it.

My main point I want to get across was the fact that even though I discharged myself I felt like I was been talked into making that choice. I don't want my discharge to be seen as 'another success story' when I felt really I was getting no help.

Although I admit towards the end after several changes of workers which led to my care deteriorating & then moved into the nurse led clinic or low intensity pathway (whatever it's been called), I knew what was coming. When I was asked what help I felt I needed, I was hardly going to say as someone who's had over 20 years of mental health problems & an eating disorder I'm hardly going to say what help I want as the little voice in my head tells me I don't need it.

I feel with mental health the quality of care/help is lacking.

Unlike with a physical illness or problem if the place you go can't provide the right treatment they don't just say 'well there's nothing we can do'.

Over a year a go my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer & Thank God they didn't just leave her to it. Even though they knew she would die from it, they still referred her to places that could offer her the treatment she needed to make sure that she had some quality of life for what she had left.

With mental illness that doesn't seem to be the case. Although it's not classed as terminal the impression is if you've had it for a long time & aren't 'cured' or causing a 'nuisance,' then there's nothing they can do & just leave you to it no matter what quality of life you may be living.

The main point of this story is really I want to get across that I don't want my discharge from services been seen as a 'success' case as I feel like a useless case & after reading similar stories get the feeling quite a few 'long term service users' are been discharged in the same way.
