"Father with Alzheimer's treat with kindness and..."

About: Westmorland General Hospital

Anything else?

My father was in for a day for a hernia operation. My father is in his 70's and has Alzheimer's. The staff could not have been more helpful and caring. They gave him a side ward and everyone including the surgeon and anesthesiologists explained everything to my father and us (myself and my mother). They treat him with care and dignity. They allowed my mother to stay with him right up until he was asleep for the operation and allowed her to be there when they brought him back round. This meant a lot to my father and us as he gets scared now due to the Alzheimer's. We couldn't have asked for more and they have made us confident about any future visits that may be needed. The care and attention was impeccable and impressive and so important to a family with a member with Alzheimer's. I would like to thank all the staff involved in making what could have been a traumatic experience into a relaxed and comfortable day. Not everywhere is as kind and caring. Thank you.
