About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

Anything else?

I had heard such awful tales about the Royal that I was most concerned when my m-i-l was admitted for an emergency operation, I must have been listening to life,s perpetual moaners. All the staff we have met have been wonderful. Highly skilled and professional surgical and nursing staff with time to listen and help the patients. The ward was well organised and spotlessly clean, good meals and lots of encouragement and time to eat. I cannot praise this hospital enough. The biggest turnoff is having to wade through the smokers at the main entrance. these people should be moved to the smoking shelter or be made to go to a quieter place so that the entrance is fit for visitors to use, this needs to be done now, it is too long to wait for the new buildings. Many thanks to The Royal for the speedy return to health of my m-i-l.

Thank you for taking the time to post such lovely feedback, we will share this with our staff. We completely agree with your comments about people smoking outside the hospital entrances and we are doing something about this. We have been proactively asking people to move away from the entrances. We employ a smoking cessation officer to do this and have asked all our staff to also politely ask smokers to move away. Before Christmas (2013) we will be installing new posters, picturing local people, patients and visitors along with their requests for people to stop. This is a long term project and we intend to see what changes can be made to legislation to help us to enforce this. More information about these measures will be available through our website and the local media as and when they are put into place.
