"Thank you"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

I came to A and E on Friday 6th December with my husband who was suffering chest pains. Every member of staff we came into contact with from arriving before 8am to leaving at 8.30pm did their best to give us their attention and care despite being very busy at times. The doctor was charming, very patient and clear in his explanations and made us feel we were his priority and helped ease the situation with his gentle humour. All the nursing staff were friendly and attentive too. The porter who took us to ward 4 was chatty and kind.. The woman who "checked us in" even took the time to pop into our area and ask if we were ok. We were offered refreshments by a volunteer and given further information when we asked. The staff on Ward 4 were all kind and helpful - there was a lovely positive attitude and the member of staff who took my husbands details was lovely! Another doctor went out of her way to help us, popping back once she had further information. No one likes being ill and I was distressed at seeing my husband having tests and worried about him. The staff did everything to put us at ease and to help find answers to our questions. A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who we came into contact with. I am full of admiration for the work doctors and nurses do and having spent time at BRI I am even more impressed.

I am very pleased that you have taken the time to describe your experiences at what must have been a very difficult time for both yourself and your husband. I hope that he has or is making a good recovery. The staff in both of the areas you visited do work under extreme pressure, that is not to say that we don’t expect a certain standard of treatment/behaviour, but it can be challenging. You have highlighted the positive and caring elements of your husband's care and I will make sure that the staff are made aware of this feedback. It does make a difference to us, thank you.
