"flippant diagnosis"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Anything else?

this is anonymous as still in patient. Was given a bad diagnosis today but told my blood count is back to normal which was good but then the neurologist also added that my CT scan came back as normal so ruled out any other diagnosis.... When I told the doc that I haven't actually had the scan yet he just blamed his colleague and said he had told him it was ok! I am putting complete trust in these people and they cant even be bothered to read my notes before giving my a flippant diagnosis and worrying me and my family. Now im not sure if he even looked at my blood results. My pillow had no case on it and the bed sheet was very badly stained and only 1 thin blanket. Also another very sick patient on the ward asked for an extra blanket only to be told there were no spares! I would not recommend BVH to a dog!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, problems like this need to be raised as soon as possible so that we can address them promptly. As you are still an inpatient at our hospital we would advise you to speak to the ward manager or the matron in the area you’re in about what’s happened so that they can take the appropriate action. You can request to speak to them directly via a member of the ward staff or their details can be found on posters in the ward entrance. If you do not feel comfortable speaking with a clinical member of staff, you can contact our patient relations team on 01253 65 5588. We’d like to apologise for any distress this has caused you and reassure you that all matters are treated confidentially and you will not be treated differently as a result of raising a concern.
