"Throughout antenatal visits and ..."

About: St John's Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Throughout antenatal visits and during labour and postnatal care I could not have wished for more professional, focussed care. I was treated with dignity and respect by everyone and in particular the midwives, SHO and post-natal staff were really caring. The midwives were fantastic and had a great sense of humour; they really took care of me. The post-natal staff were also great and very encouraging when I asked for help with breastfeeding. In general, the hospital was clean and the birth pool room was bright and airy. The bathrooms I used had recently been refurbished and were cleaned by hospital staff - the only negative thing to say about the bathrooms is that other patients don't always clean the facilities once they have used them, although there are signs asking them to. I was extremely happy to have given birth here and would recommend the hospital to anyone.

What could be improved

The hot meals I ate were microwaved and did not taste great, but if you don't fancy eating the food on offer, there is a 24 hour Tesco store nearby and you can use the fridge and microwave oven to chill and cook your own food if you wish. Cold meals are fine (sandwiches, salads).
