"Fantastic care and physio after Total Hip Replacement"

About: Nuffield Health, Plymouth Hospital

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed as requiring surgical hip replacement in early June 2011. I was placed on a waiting list that would put me into Nuffield Hospital Plymouth in August 2011, a wait of about 10 weeks. I offered to be called forward at short notice should a cancellation allow this.

Was very pleased to be told mid June that a place was available in July due to cancellation. Went rapidly through prelims and had successful surgery in early July. Post OP care was exemplary and I was discharged a few days later. Recovery at home was rapid and 6 weeks later attended for 1st review and physio assessment. From then I was placed on intensive physiotherapy regime that can only be described as world beating. This was at Nuffield Health Center Plymouth under the supervision of the brilliant Chris. 8 weeks after the op I was back at work on phased return, going to gym every day for physio.

By early October I was fully back at work and starting to get my life back in terms of activities which included cycling and kayaking. Two years on I am completely ok and can only say that, from Mr Stitson the consultant surgeon, to all the nurses, carers, physiotherapists at Nuffield, you are fantastic.
