A close friend of mine has recently had to spend a considerable amount of time as an inpatient. His problems have revolved around the stomach. I should like to comment on the standard of food that is provided by the hospital. I would have thought that by now you would have realized how important good healthy appetizing food is to the recovery process. The food that is provided by you is dreadful you cant even seem to provide a decent cup of tea. I find it difficult to believe that you don't have any other comments on your food standard, a suspicious person might think you don't publish any comments on this subject.

Dear Tony, Thank you for your feedback about the patient catering service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and we're sorry to hear that your friend wasn't satisfied with the food. Interserve, the company who provides all in-patient food in the hospital, has worked with the hospital's dieticians to develop a comprehensive and nutritionally balanced menu to meet dietary requirements of all patients. As part of the contract, Interserve is required to regularly survey patients about the food they receive during their stay and the score for October (the most recent data we have) was 0.94 out of 1. We recognise that not everyone is happy with the food they receive, and where possible we try and deal with these issues while the patient is still on the ward.
