"Excellent care"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

We have used various services, clinics and departments as in and out-patients and found most to be outstanding. - Paramedic support is amazing, very professional and calming - A&E - helpful but sadly over stretched and time delays each time - bring back waiting time targets - the childrens assessment unit - this unfortunately is by far the worse area despite the great staff. Each time through this unit we have waited for hours (minimum 7 hours) in seats in brightly lit corriders then at night a dimmer ward seated area. In the hot environment with some very poorly children not being attended for hour after hour, that includes the very basics such as toilet breaks for parents or a cot to put your child down, water, food (or medicine for children if children have their own prescriptions that they have not brought in such as a heart patient we waited with who went without 2 of her 4 daily doses). - Childrens wards have been great - Neurology excellent, the consultants are thorough and take time with parents to explain - Outpatient blood test have been amazingly helpful, book reader included.

Dear reviewer, Thank you very much for leaving your review of your experiences of the Children's Services and A&E at Leicester Royal Infirmary. It seems that you have spent far too much time with us than we would wish for any parent, but we are delighted to read that our staff are helpful and compassionate every step of the way. We have passed your fantastic feedback onto the wards and staff mentioned above. We are however, disappointed to read about the long waits and unsatisfactory experience you have had in the Children's Assessment Unit. In order for us to learn from your experience, we would appreciate you contacting Consultant Paediatrician, Jo Forster, to discuss in more detail. Jo can be contacted on Joanne.Forster@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Best wishes, Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
