"Bloot testing"

About: Brentwood Community Hospital

Anything else?

Extremely unhappy with the general attitude of the phlebotomist I saw. She questioned why I was there despite me explaining that I had been told to have a blood test by the midwife I saw at my booking appointment then questioned why I had gone there rather than Queen's as I am under Queen's for my ante-natal care even though my midwifery care is at the Community Hospital. She talked to me as though I were a naughty child been caught in the wrong place and made me feel I had got everything wrong even though I was only doing exactly what I had been told to do by my midwife from the same hospital!

Further to my response yesterday, I have discussed your concerns further with Sue Hardy who is our Chief Nurse/Deputy Chief Executive. we would like to reassure you that whilst we may not be able to identify the exact member of staff at this time, the department involved are taking this forward with all staff as an issue for reflection and discussion amongst the team to ensure that this does not happen again.

Please once again accept my sincere apologies for your experience and would ask that you contact us so we can verify exactly who saw you so that this issue can be taken forward with them. Again our e-mail is complaints@southend.nhs.uk

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Kind regards

Steve
