"Cancelled appointments without reason."

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Anything else?

Here I am with little co-ordination of my limbs, failing vision in one eye, areas of altered sensation all over my body, having difficulty in thinking. I saw my own GP, was told I need to see a consultant with haste and was told it should be Sunderland Hospitals because "They've the shortest waiting times to see a specialist" and so I wait.. I've been given two separate appointments by the hospital and both were then cancelled by the hospital. No reason as to why and simply told another appointment would follow. The second appointment did indeed follow and I waited. I waited because this is obviously important. Without even a knock, a hand delivered cancellation letter was shoved through my door. It gave me less than 12 hours notice before the appointment to see a consultant. I called the appointments team and not a single reason was offered or given. Nothing. In a cheesy voice (disgraceful when you think about that) I was offered another appointment in 14 weeks time. I explained I wasn't happy and asked what I should do because I obviously need help. The receptionist said "OH" and hung up on me! I then tried calling the consultants secretary. That proved impossible because the consultant had left.. I was again offered to be put through to the bookings team. I refused. I asked why I wasn't seeing who I should and was told that two consultants had walked walked away from that department. That makes you wonder! I'm promised that an appointment will come this month (December) "because we have to do it within a certain time". I asked what would happen if an appointment didn't come withing the time - I was told nothing. Not a jot. It seems that the appointment for 14 weeks time will be my best bet (I've waited months already), no-one will be told off about it and even if that one comes, there will be a huge build-up of patients who need to see someone too! Let's call it 6 months then. That is, should the consultant choose to stay.. Please Sunderland Hospitals - Why should I continue to have hope in you? Is it really that bad or are you victimising me? I expect not a single thing will change in my situation..
