"Long wait for diagnosis and treatment"

About: The London Chest Hospital

Anything else?

My consultant at the London Chest Hospital asked to see me 2 weeks after my first diagnostic test, which is scheduled for December. I was given the follow-up appointment for January, but 3 weeks later I received a letter rescheduling it for April, 3 months later. There was no explanation. I've spent a long time on the phone today trying to find out why, and was finally told that the rescheduling was due to someone going on holiday on my original appointment date. Having been given an appointment 3 weeks ago that was in the right timescale, there are now no appointments free until April. Which means it will have taken 6 months from my GP referral to get the results of my first test, and I expect there will be more tests required before there's a diagnosis. At this rate it could take years to get treatment.
