"Appalling"

About: Fulwood Hall Hospital

Anything else?

Appalling is the only word describing this hospital. From the start of entering the building the reception staff either ignore you, or grunt as they ask you what you want. The nurses don't seem to communicate to one another as we received a number of mixed messages. To cap it all they discharged my mum, who is suffering with dementia without giving us notice. This hospital had a 'duty of care' to see that everything was in place before they asked my mum to leave, but no consideration for her welfare was given. I must admit that some of the nursing staff are pleasant and are very helpful, but some make you feel as though you are in the wrong, may be it was because my mum was an NHS patient?....who knows, but I do know I wouldn't personally go private and pay for their service.

I am really sorry that you are appalled by your Mother's treatment at Fulwood Hall Hospital. I am fully aware of your criticism and have started investigating the issues raised, and hopeful that we can arrange a meeting with you this week to discuss my findings. Yours sincerely Ann Cooke Matron
