"My recent stay in Leighton Hospital"

About: Leighton Hospital

Anything else?

I have recently undergone a Total Hip Replacement under the excellent care and expertise of all of the staff on Ward 9, from the moment I was welcomed until the day of my discharge, and I had a follow-up call two days after discharge to see how I was and if I had any concerns. The porter on the way to Theatre and the Recovery staff were excellent, very reassuring and comforting, making me very relaxed. On my return to the Ward, the care was second to none. The Night Sisters were also excellent, caring for me and offering a cup of tea in the early hours, whilst all the time monitoring my progress, etc. The Occupational Therapists were also very helpful and the exercises easy to follow - they soon had me up on my crutches which assists a speedier recovery. The lady who undertook the domestic duties was very throrough but also very friendly. It was nice to see so many smiling and confident faces. I have already passed on my accolades to people who have asked me where I had my 'hip op' done, but would like to recommend Leighton Hospital very highly for the experience I had and encourage people who have anxieties or fears to forget them - the whole team is wonderful. SUE MARTIN, Nantwich.

Dear Mrs Martin, thank you for your lovely comments about the care you received during your stay on Ward 9 at Leighton Hospital following your recent total hip replacement. We appreciate that having a major operation can be very stressful for patients and are very glad to hear that you were reassured by the way in which the staff cared for you and their cheerful and helpful manner. You specifically mentioned the follow up phone call you received and this is a service we have introduced as part of our Enhanced Recovery programme for patients who have had a joint replacement. It is reassuring to hear that you felt it was of benefit to you. Your comments have been shared with all of the staff in the departments that you mention as having contributed to your recovery. It is lovely to hear that you are already recommending us to your friends. Please accept our best wishes for your continued recovery. Sue Sarson, Acting Modern Matron, Surgery & Cancer Division
