"outpatient eye appointments "

About: Essex County Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

In September I had a flare up of a long term condition and sent to the eye hospital on an emergency appointment. The consultant put me on treatment (drops) and said I need to see you in a month. But when I got the appointment letter it was for 4 months later. I phoned and they said "that's the next available one". After 2 months I got another flare up. I went into an emergency appointment and the Doctor said: "But you were meant to come back in 4 weeks - what do you expect? ? ". I was left feeling that I was being blamed. But it's not my fault.

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience.

We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers.

We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “outpatient eye appointments | posted by Essex Eye Man”, please?

Many thanks
