"Emergency admission"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

Anything else?

My 72 year old Mum was was in a distressed state with severe diarrhea and bleeding when she arrived in a 999 ambulance. Despite the walk in centre Dr phoning to say she would need a side room, staff seemed to know nothing about this when we arrived and we were sent back outside on a freezing cold night to wait in the ambulance. The ambulance crew were very good and got us back inside and due to their persistence we got a locked toilet opened. When we got into the side room, no one came for about 40 minutes and only then a nurse who got her into a gown and left her stained clothes on the floor. Her bloods were taken and she was taken to an assessment ward without seeing a Dr. 5 days later she was discharged after tests whilst still having symptoms and had to be readmitted the next day. On ward 24 I couldn't get any info out of a nurse who could not understand me and who I could not understand. She was moved to ward 17, which was much better organised and well ran. Having been diagnosed with a bowel disease she was discharged again but with no info about the condition or diet. An information leaflet would have been helpful.
