"Urology Ward D46"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Anything else?

I visited the hospital for a TURP procedure last Friday and was in for 3 days. My thanks to the consultant surgeon who performed the procedure and his supporting staff, and especially the nurses on Ward D46 Bay 1 for making my stay in the ward as comfortable as they could. My outcome is proceding well and if you have a positive outlook with regard to your stay it also helps the staff aid your recovery. I had the assurance at the end of my stay that the staff would not discharge me unless I was right to leave. I would not dread revisiting the Hospital and Ward if I had to in the future. The staff though noticilbly understaffed: which seems to be common in the NHS at the moment, did not hesitate to come when they could to any concern the other patients and myself in the bay had with no complaint. Noticibly they had to double up making beds, serving food as well as tending to our comfort with drips and drains. The food I found to be tasty and okay, although transported by trolley, some items travelled better than others, Again, many thanks for the job you are doing and making my stay less daunting as I thought it would be.

Thank you for your comments and we are pleased that the staff on the ward were able to make your stay as comfortable as possible. As you say, the nursing staff on the ward are very busy, but we are pleased to note that the Trust's aim to provide the highest possible care for our patients was achieved. Thank you once again and we hope you are continuing to make a good recovery at home.
