I gave birth to my first son at the Chelsea and Westminster last May. The consultant in neonatal paediatrics that visited my new born (1 day old) has been very rude and unprofessional. I saw her at the reception desk and I asked to come to see the baby because I had a concern. She told me to come back to my room very rudely. The baby cried when she started the assessment, she addressed to him saying "calm down calm down!" with a very loud voice and harshly. Of course he was more and more upset so she quickly finished the "consultation". Then I asked some questions regarding the well-being of the baby and the feeding. She replied that I shouldn't ask to a consultant some sort of things and to wait for a midwife... The unrespectful way she treated the baby was unacceptable. A friend of mine had the same experience with the same doctor...I should have raised a formal complaint but when I left the hospital I was so busy with the baby that the time just went by.
