"Dementia Care"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

Anything else?

My Granma who has a diagnosis of Dementia was admitted to hospital. If it was just A&E i was commenting on my ratings would be alot lower. They spoke to me rather than my Granma and appeared to have little understanding of Dementia. The assessment ward and ward 9 however were amazing. My Granma really did not want to be in hospial but the skill and expertise of the nurses, especially the nurse on the assessment ward was outstanding. Her approach was reprectful and dignified and she gave my granma the compassion she needed to reassure her she would be looked after.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the NHS Choices website. I was delighted to read the compliment you have made to the assessment ward and Ward 9 and I have passed these on to both wards as such compliment are a real boost to staff morale. However, I was very sorry to read the remark you have made regarding your Grandma’s visit to the Emergency Department If you would like to discuss this matter further please contact The Customer Care Team on 01626 661449 or e-mail on ecn-tr.CustomerCareSevise@nhs.net who will be more than happy to assist you. Thank you
