About: Lister Hospital

Anything else?

I was called by my 85 year old mother around 5 am as she had taken her GTN spray with no effect as she wouldn't call an ambulance l picked her up and took her to A&E. 2012 was not a good year and she was a frequent visitor to the Lister and would do anything not to return but we can honestly say this was was the best visit. The staff on duty were not only very friendly but extremely professional at all times. Every step was explained to my mother she didn't feel rushed and was able to give a full history - she felt she was listened to. She was transferred to the short stay unit, discharged on 23/11/13 and the treatment was equaly as caring and professional. Thank you everyone from the receptionist, porters, catering lady in A&E and of course the doctors who were brilliant. I am sorry we didn't get the chance to thank you all.

Your feedback shows just how much has changed at the Lister in the last 12 months or so. Our new emergency department (ED) service is taking shape (it's due for full completion in just under a year's time and will be at least twice as big as the old service, with lots more facilities). But you and your mother got a great example of the difference that these changes are beginning to make. We'll make sure that your kind words make it to the ED and short stay unit teams, but in the meantime we do hope - for all the right reasons - that neither you nor your mother have a need to use our services again for quite some time!
