"night staff"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

An apparant lack of communication and organisation between the ward night time staff on thorasics ward. Patients left on own for xrays=xray dept had to ring the ward. , loud talking at nurse station so conversation could be heard by all patients and visitors, my bell/buzzer placed on chest op side-so couldnt reach it! Basic need to be met by this. Lack of empathy by several nurses about patients emotiona well being -commented on byb 2 seperate visitors. One eldery patient said the ward was so 'grey and plain'at one end it was 'like death here.' No curtains up etc ,blankw alls, hidden away. Doesnt take much to put some local art up.

Thank you for your feedback. We are concerned to hear that you feel there was a lack of communication and organisation on the ward, and would very much like to investigate further. To allow us to do so we would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Support and Complaints Team on 0117 342 3604 or email pals@uhbristol.nhs.uk . A significant building programme is well underway at our Trust, which among other improvements will involve a relocation of wards from the Old Bristol Royal Infirmary Building this year. Thank you again for your feedback.
