"Staff could not have been better"

About: Princess Anne Hospital

Anything else?

After a bad car accident at 38 weeks pregnant I was rushed to Southampton A&E for checks on my spine. Whilst the emergency team checked me they whisked someone over to check on my baby. She didn't leave my side once and helped me so much during what was a very stressful and scary time. After I was given the all clear I was transferred to labour ward. I must confess I had my doubts having looked at reviews before - when it's good it seems very good, but the bad reviews did worry me. But it was all worry for nothing - the team were kind, approachable and professional and I had my own room with an ensuite. The first midwife on shift did not leave my side once and was an invaluable source or support, advice and really helped keep both myself and my husband distracted during a long wait for crucial test results. I would say that the consultants are excellent, if a little bit over cautious (extra drips, cannula, catheter etc etc, but the midwives really were utterly fantastic. My only criticism was that my husband did not get a chair he could sleep in and had to leave me to go get a couple of hours sleep in the car - not ideal when you're laid in a rock hard bed in constant pain and just want some company!
