I have had a problematic pregnancey, at just 9 weeks I had a PE and later I have been suffering from SPD. When I was first found to have had a PE, I was told that I couldn't have warferin as it could harm the baby, three times I had to inform nurses who tried to administer it to me that I was not to have it as I was pregnant, one time I even said three times I cant have it it'll hurt my baby, three times she said oh no it will be fine. Then when going through the check sheet she said your not pregnant are you, I said yes thats why I've asked you if it will hurt my baby, she replied oh I thought you meant you were breast feeding. Then months later on I had an accident in my car which made my SPD nearly unbarable and as a result I could barley walk and toileting myself was near impossible. I was on my own and left in the waiting area with a mentle health patient for 6 hours despite all of the cubicles being empty. When I asked why this was I was told they were for emergencies only. How can you justify leaving a woman who is nearly 8 months pregnant with pelvic problems in a dodgy wheel chair for 6 hours with a clearly unstable patient when ALL of the cubicles are empty. Then when I was seen by a doctor I was told you havent broken anything we'll send you up to labour ward to check the baby. The baby thankfully was fine and I was sent home in a taxi, I could hardly walk, I had to insist on a physio appointment which I was told would take up to 2 weeks. I was really frightened about how I was going to cope because I have 3 other children at home. At home I couldnt move and so I phoned the physio department myself who brought me in and kitted me out with crutches and a belt which helped straight away. The staff in this department were fantastic. However I have been left feeling so worried about the care my baby would recieve if he/ she had any problems I have asked to be refered to a different hospital. And I hope that I never have to depend on the care of Warrington hospital again as clearly they have some communication problems not to mention some of the staff make you feel as thogh you are a burden and that you are lucky they are treating you atall. The sad thing is that some of the staff are lovely most of the consultants are great, but on the whole the standard of care I have recieved has been poor and unexceptable.

What could be improved

The doctors and nurses need to communicate with one another as do the different departments. Also there are signs, rightly so saying that the hospital will not tolorate threats of violence towards their staff, however the way some of the staff speak to the patients is awful and when your vunerable this is the last thing you need, those signs should work both ways.
