"Farcical."

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Anything else?

I visited this department ( Vascular Surgery )on the 12th November 2013. I was told when i arrived that there would be 30 minute delay, buy the time i had walked to the corridor the delay had reached 1 hr. has I was sat waiting the nurse said it would be at least 3-30pm before the first patient would be seen, but she kept repeating that we could leave and rearrange our appointments, do they not realise that some people work and that like myself had waited 6 weeks for this appointment had, had an afternoon off work. As the mood worsened in the corridor the excuses that the nurse came up with got more and more Farcical from " His secretary does not know where he is" to the last one (which i found quite disturbing was " He is in theatre and someone is bleeding" At that point i wondered to myself do they treat all patients like this as if they had no intelligence to work out that a Medical Secretary would surely know when a Doctor is in Theatre or not. I finally went in to see the Doctor at 3-45pm 1hr and 45mins late the Gentleman before me had said he had been there since 1pm and no one had offered him a drink he was probably late 70's. When i saw the Doctor i was in the treatment room for no more than 2 mins, i had questions to ask and wanted to know more about the cause. All the Doctor said was take a Statin and that "It would not get any worse" i paused to myself and thought " How could it get any worse i have a blocked artery i have had a DVT there is no pulse in my Dorsalis Pedis how could it get any worse". And then Discharged me,,,2 mins thats all the time he had spent. Unfortunately i thought the treatment on that day could have been somewhat better the fact that the doctor was late and there had to be another Doctor drafted in to join him to reduce the ridiculous wait of all the other patients had impacted on the time that the Doctor could have spent.
