"I received excellent emergency ..."

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I received excellent emergency treatment from the orthopeadic and vascular teams. Staff in the HDU were a God send along with the soft closing binlids. I was well informed of my treatment throughout my 12 day stay. Having visited other hospitals througout the UK (North Staffs, St Georges London, Macclesfield and Stafford General and Solihull maternity ward) Frimley Park was the Hospital was by far the most professional of all. As a result of the treatment I have been blessed with keeping most of the functioning of my left arm.

What could be improved

As a result of too few staff (and being younger than other patients on my ward) I was frequently left to last to be fed and washed. This was frustrating and had my father not been permitted to feed me outside visiting hours this would have had a significant effect on my moral.

I left the hospital with an inordate quantity of drugs. I was not given any advice on when to stop taking them as a result my withdrawal symptoms 2 months later from codiene were rather severe.

These are issues that can be solved with simple adjustments to working practise. Consultants were informative and honest and the general atmosphere within the hospital is one of pride and professionalism. This professionalism should be maintained and you should continue to set an example.
