"Induction "

About: St Mary's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was induced at 40+12 with my first baby last week.

The staff at St. Mary's were just wonderful, so kind. I felt really cared for and well-looked after. I lost a lot of blood and had lots of stitches and a blood transfusion. Thank you particularly to Nova who was there when I gave birth and for the rest of the day looking after us all, and to another midwife, sorry I can't remember her name, who looked after my baby when I was having my transfusion so I could get some sleep.

The only negative would be that it would have been great to have had my husband with me during early labour overnight on the induction ward. With a first baby, I didn't know what to expect and felt a little alone and frightened. I can understand the policy in general as I know induction labours can take hours but it would have probably taken pressure off the midwives if I'd been able to have him there and would have been v reassuring.
