"A&E staff are rude/pass sarcastic comments"

About: Croydon University Hospital

Anything else?

I had to call emergency for an ectopic pregnancy. I was taken to A&E. I was having excruciating shoulder tip pain and was unable to bear that which resulted in me screaming in pain. One lady at A&E who was in charge to taking patients details told me sarcastically that 'you want to have babies and you do not want pain?' How insensitive can your staff be?

Thank you for contacting us and we are sorry that you had a poor experience of care. We take the comments that you raise very seriously and we have made the team in charge of our emergency department aware of what you have said. As you may know, there are two services that see patients who come to the hospital site by ambulance that operate from the same building: the Trust’s A&E team and the Urgent Care team who are run by Virgin Care and who are not a part of our organisation. We would like to investigate what happened to you, including which team you were treated by, in more detail. If you would be willing to contact our PALS service and provide us with your details, we can look into what happened to you and where we need to improve. You can contact PALS on 020 8401 3210 or at talktous@croydonhealth.nhs.uk
