"Clinic appoitment and emergency appointment"
About: Medway Maritime Hospital Medway Maritime Hospital Gillingham ME7 5NY
I have always found the hospital staff to be helpful and even when I had to wait 35 mins for a car parking space, backed up to top of Rock Avenue. I was seen, I had to wait but didn't mind as I knew I had missed my orthopaedic appointment. This has happened twice now. I have also had to attend for several tests in different departments and have always found people/staff to be very helpful, if not overwhelmed by so many numbers of patients. I have also had to attend for the same day diagnosis unit. They were very helpful and got me a prompt appointment for a scan for a very swollen leg, D.V.T I am not however complaining about any of this; I was very lucky to receive such prompt attention. I am going to complain about the car parking information desk! I was told by The Disabled Drivers Association magazine that there is concessionary rate for disabled drivers, I was told very forcefully by the man behind the desk that this was not so. I emailed DDA again and they spoke to someone who said that there was and it was for £2 a day. I have been told twice now there is not, I have contacted the DDA again about this. It can be very expensive when having to attend the hospital for regular appointments and tests. I do understand the hospital needs to have funds but find it difficult to accept the need to charge so much. Having a disability means I have to get my scooter in and out of the car, then get to my appointments, this means I can take a lot longer to sort myself out, then having been seen, perhaps have further tests, then get back to pay for the car park, it can become costly.
