"A perfect example of what the NHS should be"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Anything else?

I eventually ended up on Ward B28 (after an absolute nightmare on another ward) and expecting the treatment by staff and the cleanliness to be the same (I arrived at midnight) I was gobsmacked the next morning when I awoke and the lights were on. The ward was spotless....I had room which meant I didnt have to almost cuddle up to the patient in the next bed, nor "share in" his ablutions in bed. The nurses were compassionate and professional. They worked diligently and quickly. I cant describe how "safe" I felt...and feeling that you are in safe hands is a feeling that should never be underestimated. I spent around 10days there and found that even the cleaners worked with the same diligence, the place was spotless. Ok, some of the patients snore....some fight night terrors and custers last stand!! but there is enough room that you dont feel that they are overbearing, and you can sleep through it, and anyway...theyre ill too. This ward is a shining example of what the NHS should be......Id also suggest that the management took some of the staff from other wards to it and showed them the minimum requirements expected of them!!

Thank you for your kind comments. We appreciate the time you have taken to leave this feedback (both this comment and that following your less positive experience in another ward). We will ensure this is shared with all members of the team.
