"Hip replacement"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

Anything else?

My first visit for a major operation at 64 years old and I could not have been treated any better. The staff were excellent and so friendly and helpful and made my stay pleasant and trouble free with frequent cups of tea and lots of excellent food always served hot.My new hip was fitted in just over one hour and I was up out of bed in the afternoon of my operation and allowed home within 48 hours. All I can say after continually reading reports about poor treatment in NHS hospitals is this Hospital should be very proud of the quality of work carried out by their surgeons, doctors and all their staff. Thank you all so much.

Dear Peter Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about the wonderful care that you received from the orthopaedic team at North Tyneside. I imagine coming in for your first major operation at 64 years of age was a bit scary given your limited experience of hospitals up until then. I am so pleased that we didn't disappoint you in any way. Our orthopaedic teams have won national awards and were recognised again only this week. We are naturally very proud of them and the high quality care they deliver to hundreds of patients every year. I know how pleased they’ll be to read your comments. I’m glad that you received lots of cups of tea and excellent piping hot food during your stay with us – I’ll pass on your thanks to the catering team too. I do hope that your recovery continues to go well at home. With best Wishes Annie
