"Midwives not confident to make decision"

About: Samuel Johnson Community Hospital

Anything else?

I had my first child in 2011 at samuel johnson and thought they were amazing, experience was great and support afterwards was fantastic. based on this i chose to have my second child here earlier this year, a decision i whole heartedly regret. The midwife who looked after me, clearly didnt want me at the hospital and kept saying we'd have to go to burton, she didnt communicate concerns with us, and when she decided i was labouring too slowly (which is she'd bothered to read my previous notes she'd have realised that this was how i laboured with my first) decided to send me to burton with 10 minutes notice. i asked for some additional pain relief which wasnt bought, i had to repeatedly ask then fight for it as they felt it was too late. Worst of all due to their decision to pack me off in an ambulance with no notice, my partner was unable to come with me, therefore when my labour progressed rapidly (as with the previous child) and i needed someone, i was on my own and he missed the birth of his daughter. To top it off when i have then spoken to the midwife i was throughout my pregnancy she admitted she wouldnt have sent me, as there was no reason. when i chose to go to samuel johnson in 2011, i was told of the risk of being sent in an ambulance if there was an emergency, not just because they couldnt be bothered. i wouldnt advise anyone to go here after my last experience as nothing can change that they ruined the experience for me and my partner, and caused him to miss the birth.
