Anything else?
I'd like a big thank you given to all the staff at St Peters, in particular the doctor in the A and E dept and the paramedics who looked after me last night. I was taken in with severe abdominal pain and was having a panic seizure due to the pain. I didn't want to go in, didn't want to be a burden etc- we all know these guys are busy and I didn't want to waste their time. But the paramedics who got to me- very quickly- were really calm and helpful. Gave me IV painkillers and gas and air straight away and then insisted I get checked out. They stayed with me until I was safely in a bed and made sure it was made nicely before handing me over. Lovely guys and never made me feel like a burden. The first guy who got to me on his own was also brilliant, although I didn't see much of him but I remember his calm voice and feeling I was in capable hands. The doctor looked after me later on that night and was so professional and knowledgeable, articulate and very kind. I felt like the care I received was of a very high standard. I heard him deal with other patients too and it was in the same way- I heard the couple next to me comment "you don't get many doctors as good as that anymore" so it wasn't just me who had that opinion. The hospital itself was very clean and although busy that night, not chaotic. I was surprised at how clean it was for an A and E dept. lots of staff around at all times. These guys rarely get praised for the work they do and I can say it is the best care I have ever experienced from a hospital, especially an A and E department. They all deserve a pat on the back.
