Dear A+E team , My husband was admitted in the early morning hours in October 2013 with a heart condition called AF. The receptionist moved us in a very timely manner to the minor assessment area where we only had to wait approximately 10-15 minutes. My husband was seen in a professional and polite manner by nursing and medical staff. The admission went very smooth. I suppose it did make a big diffrence that the department was not too crowded with clients. My husband was then moved to an observation/treatment area where he was monitored following the administration of medication. We were informed that this medication might not take effect and cardio version would be necessary to set my husbands' heart back into normal rythm. By this point the advanced nurse practitioner was involved in my husbands care, as well as Registrars and staff nurses. After 90 minutes waiting, my husband was cardio verted. The procedure and risks were explained in a very easy comprehendable way. We both felt cared for and safe. My husband was informed that his care would need Consultant care input and an urgent referal was made. The appointment came through within 4 weeks. We were extremely pleased with the excellent care given by the highly professional, kind, polite, team working staff in A&E . I would take any of my family members to Good Hope Hospital, I feel very strongly that the staff cares, knowing under what pressure employees have to work at times. Well done and thank you all again. SE P.S. I would appreciate if you could forward this email to the staff. Thank you
