About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

Anything else?

I have been under Whipps Cross since I was 23 (now 52). I was diagnosed with Chrons disease and was under a wonderful consultant (who is now retired) and a wonderful surgeon. I could never have wished for better care either as an out or in patient. I have also been under another surgeon for gall bladder removal some 23 years ago, the 50th person in Whipps Cross to have done by keyhole I believe by the particular surgeon. Unfortunately last year I had a fistula appear and was referred back to Whipps Cross under a new consultant and surgeon. Both of which I am finding to be excellent, I can contact my consultant via e mail with basically the same day response, he is excellent. My surgeon is excellent, I have been in theatre 3 times under her care, to have a seton stitch put in and replaced as necessary. My last one was yesterday! I go into Plane Tree as a day case. All in all although I have only spoke about the consultants and surgeons who have looked after me I want to say that I've never found Whipps Cross dirty, staff are friendly and helpful. Yes there have been delays for appointments but these are generally due to an emergency occurring and as I have experienced being an emergency in out patients, I have learnt to take a wait in my stride. Just think that emergency could be you! Keep up the good work Whipps Cross! That goes from cleaners, porters, admin staff, nurses, consultants, surgeons and the hoards if people who help to keep making many people well or caring for those who are unlucky to be unable to be made well.
