"The elderly are left with little information on..."

About: Southend Hospital

Anything else?

My husband is suffering with a bleed on the knee {effects from taking warfarin and was told to continue taking it after he was told by A&E to stop it for 3 days} as well as being generally unwell. Visited out of hours clinic and A&E. And he is no better, told the condition my well last weeks., sent home with a tubigrip which was uncomfortable and had to remove. .Painkillers co-dydramol with little effect, Been crying with the pain this evening I have giving him bag of peas to help. I just don't know what to do as I haven't been told what to expect and what to do to help him. He was given exercises which he has been doing but nothing seems to help. He is not sleeping in his bed as he can't get any rest as his leg is so painful , so sleeps on the sofa sitting up, and that's been for a week. .He has had blood in his pee since approx. 15th October and all we do is go back and forward to one clinic after another £2.50 each time to park, I am unable to walk properly and find it difficult to push him, you can never find a wheelchair so I have had to buy one.

I am really sorry to learn of the problems your husband is having. If you have not done so already, I would recommend visiting his GP for further assessment who will then be able to refer him on to the appropriate specialist here at the hospital. If you do need any help then contact our PALS team on pals@southend.nhs.uk
