3rd Admission through A&E approx 20:00 26th Oct 2013. New (2nd ) Hickman Line Infection. A&E. As with my pervious posting with regards A&E 5 visits over last few months. Did not wait very long at all. The Doctor was excellent a fantastic representative for West Middx. All of the Nurses, Nursing Assistants were 1st Class. I appreciated that they were under so much pressure, a very busy unit that they were not able to deal with each request immediately. I had a thorough examination, started treatment and was admitted to AAU 1 around mid night. Please thank the A&E Unit Staff for there wonderful professionalism during a extremely busy night. 5 Star. AAU 1, Nominate for Team of The Year 2013 I found this ward very different from of the others I have stayed in. I now understand why. Acute Assessment Unit. Patients sent in from A&E seen smartly by the units Doctors and made comfortable by the Nurses and Nursing Staff. Due to a very stubborn infection in my Hickman Line, second line, third infection overall I spent from the 26th Oct until 31st Oct in AAU. This is probably much longer than usual. It did give me time to experience what goes on. I have to say, as with my previous posts my experience was wonderful. I'm going to be accused of being a member of staff as with my other postings my experience was nothing but excellent. Doctors AAU. What a fantastic group of professional. Led by a very astute, approachable guy with wonderful bedside manner. All of the Doctor in his team were so good not just to me but with everyone they dealt with. One man who spoke with me and my Wife had a fantastic way about him, even when I put him under pressure while taking a blood sample. Thank You all so much for trying so hard to save my infected Hickman Line. I appreciate how busy the unit is and precious the beds are. Thank You Nurses & Nursing Assistants. What can I say as with my experience in other wards. First Class Professionals or as my Wife calls the Angels. My Wife, Daughters, Sister and I witnessed what was the most compassionate, caring and uplifting nursing that we have ever seen in AAU 1 Wednesday 30th Oct. Myself at Breakfast and Lunchtime and My Wife, Daughters and Sister at Supper time. My Sister was a full time Staff Nurse so not easily impressed. I asked them to watch a young nurse care for two elderly gentlemen opposite my bed. Within 10 minutes they were in tears, seriously. My Wife left the ward. They are still buzzing over it. To all the Nurses, Female and Male. To all the Nursing Assistants Female and Male. Thank You All. To the catering team, orderlies, cleaners I spoke with them all. Thank You. One particular Lady with ISS was a real angel and a special thank you for Her. She helped with the very important Tea trolley, fresh water etc. Thank You. One real gripe sort the cleaning contract out. the toilets/showers are not cleaned often enough. Visited in October 2013. Posted on 01 November 2013
