Anything else?
Not wishing to sound like I’m jumping on the band wagon of the latest scandal concerning Colchester hospital, however I’m not in any way surprised at the revelations, For the past 4 months my youngest son Jon has been under their care with terminal bowel cancer, in all that time I think I can say that I have seen the NHS not at its best. It seemed there was little, if no communication and continuity between departments and staff, I had to be at the hospital with my son to ensure that he got the right treatment at the right time by the right people. I had to demand to see staff, doctors, surgeons so that all involved knew the situation and suitable treatment could be administered On several occasions a certain service was promised only to find it changed or cancelled at a later date without it seems anyone knowing about it. The first example of this was that my son was failed to be informed of his first liver biopsy in time for him to attend the appointment thus resulting in an extra weeks wait. This resulted in an official complaint being submitted to the hospital by my eldest son. These words are only a brief version of some of the events that occurred during my involvement with NHS Colchester, Hopefully in time I can put a more detailed account together as there are other issues. At this time I would like to add that I have the greatest admiration of all the staff, doctors & surgeons we encountered, however there appeared to be a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing.
